Nashville bred indie rock band COIN returned to Boston for their biggest performance in the city to date last Sunday at MGM Music Hall at Fenway. In celebration of their latest album I’m Not Afraid of Music Anymore, the band brought their signature aesthetics and infectious energy that left everyone in the crowd feeling revitalized and ready to take on the upcoming week ahead.

From the moment they took the stage with “It’s Hard to Care About Everything,” the band commanded the room with a barrage of fan favorite tracks that had the entire audience singing along to every word. From newer singles like “Take It Or Leave It” and “Along for the Ride,” to older gems such as “Run,” “Youuu,” and “Talk Too Much,” the band ensured the setlist was crafted with perfection. Between some of the deeper cuts after a momentous pause of applause from the crowd, lead singer Chase Lawrence sat at the piano in awe of the sheer outpouring of love and support that the band continued to be shown throughout the night. “This never happens!” He exclaimed at the thunderous screams, as he reminisced on one of the first shows they played in Boston all the way back in 2015 where only a handful of people attended.

The breathtaking display of affection was enough to keep the band’s energy at an all time high to finish off the set, despite their tiredness from weeks of being on the road. The night ended with an encore of “Strawberry Jam” and “Crash My Car” that left everyone up on their feet. With additional tour dates spanning into March of 2025, COIN’s performance reminds us yet again of the power of live music and why they, no doubt, should not be afraid of tour anymore.
